OUR KELP
WILD-GROWN.
SMALL BOATS.
BIG FLAVOR.
Sugar kelp grows all winter in the Gulf of Maine without fertilizer, fresh water or farmland. We buy it from the boats that grow it, and we do as little to it as possible.

01
Wild-grown in cold Atlantic water
Our sugar kelp grows on lines in the Gulf of Maine from November to May. No fertilizer, no fresh water, no farmland. Just cold, clean ocean and winter light.

02
Harvested by hand from small boats
We buy from a handful of family boats between Casco Bay and Penobscot Bay. Every line is cut by hand, rinsed in seawater and on the drying racks the same day.

WHERE IT GROWS
FROM KITTERY
TO BAR HARBOR.
Kelp lines sit a few hundred metres off the coast, anchored in 8 to 12 metres of water. The cold, nutrient-rich water of the Gulf of Maine does the rest. One season of kelp on one line pulls carbon and nitrogen straight out of the bay.
- Grown November to May, harvested in spring
- Bought from five family boats
- Rinsed, dried and baked within 48 hours
